Public Affairs Officer [Belgium]


 

As Public Affairs Officer, you are a key contributor to shape the Public Affairs function at Etex, which was recently created. By building the bridge between the multiple and diverse regulatory developments (e.g., in the framework of the EU’s Green Deal) and the ambitions and priorities of Etex, you directly impact the way Etex operates to provide “inspiring ways of living” to the world.

You report to the Head of Public Affairs, together with one other colleague. As part of the Legal function at Etex, you work in close collaboration with legal team mates globally.

You are based at Headquarters (at the airport in Zaventem/Belgium), in a hybrid set-up (possibility to partially work from home).

Your main responsibilities are to:
    • Develop and maintain an overview of key regulatory evolutions and their potential impact for Etex
    • Define and implement advocacy strategies to promote Etex’s positions, by interacting with policy/decisions makers and stakeholders
    • Create and maintain a strong network of contacts in the relevant policy communities, with a focus on the EU
    • Ensure Etex’s external representation of its positions, by e.g., contributing to Trade Association workshops and attending conferences
    • Connect and engage with Etex teammates around the world on Public Affairs, translating the regulatory developments to their activities and making sure that their concerns/input are taken into account when developing Etex’s advocacy positions
    • Contribute to setting-up a thriving Public Affairs function globally, in all key countries Etex is active in

You hold a Master’s Degree in European Affairs/Law/Political Science and/or Business/Economics/Engineering/Science, with a track record in and passion for Public Affairs/Regulatory Affairs/Government Affairs.

You are fluent in English (spoken & written), French/German/Spanish would be an asset.

You have:

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • The ability to work independently in a proactive way, in a multicultural/-discipline environment
  • Strong business acumen with a genuine interest in/passion for building materials and the related challenges/opportunities

Having a good understanding of building materials related regulations would be a plus.
