We have a portfolio of offerings which serve to scope out and design an evidence-based growth trajectory for our client, for example long-term value based growth (e.g. sustainability plans & prioritisation; business model reinvention; operating model transformation), macro-strategic planning (e.g. macro-trend analysis; strategic outline case) and transformation design (e.g. transformation roadmap design; purpose-led transformation; strategic implementation planning).
To continue the successful growth of our Energy and Assets team within the EY Consulting practice, we are looking for experienced, motivated people who have previous Energy Sector experience to join our team. We are currently hiring for the following roles, across all experience levels, from Senior Consultant to Director:
Role 1: Power System Analyst (Contract)
- Principal Engineer (Min. 10yrs relevant experience)
- Senior Engineer (Min. 5yrs relevant experience)
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of electricity transmission networks (preferably within Ireland/UK)
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders from across the energy sector.
- Power system analysis of transmission networks (load flow, voltage and short circuit studies using PSS/e software). Ability to carry out and/or review and supervise this work.
- Ability to analyse how existing and future changes to the generation and demand portfolio will impact capacity on the network to accommodate connection of new generation at various locations;
- Understanding of Transmission System Security and Planning Standards (TSSPS) and the Irish Grid Code.
- Understanding of Connection Policy, and Transmission Investment policies as they relate to new connections.
- Experience in developing technical reports for use by non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong track record of delivery
Role 2: Project Manager Transmission/Grid Connection Projects (Permanent or Contract)
Principal – Min. 10 yrs. relevant experience
Senior Lead – Min. 6 yrs. relevant experience
Consultant – Min. 2 yrs. relevant experience
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
- Degree Qualified in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical)
- Project manage a portfolio of complex, high profile electricity transmission projects – working with some of the largest companies in the world to deliver grid connections to meet their needs (time, cost, scope).
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders from across the energy sector.
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on high quality report writing and ability to communicate effectively with customers and business stakeholders.
- Proactive customer and stakeholder engagement approach.
- Lead engagement and coordination with partners and customers including meetings, reporting, relationship management, and general communication.
- Lead strategic change related projects – for example innovations to more effectively meet the needs of connecting customers, stakeholders and company strategy.
- Coaching/mentoring team members, junior staff and consultants
- Support the development of high performance capabilities and behaviours within the team.
- Ongoing review and development of procedures and documentation for quality and accuracy.
- Prepare and present project approval papers for the Executive and Project Boards.
- Facilitate project reviews and audits by internal and external parties as required.
- Experience in developing technical reports for use by non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong track record of delivery.
- Experience of using a Prince 2/PMP Project management methodology.
Role 3: Project Director/Manager –Energy Policy Development (Permanent or Contract)
Project Director – Min. 10 yrs. relevant experience
Project Manager – Min. 5 yrs. relevant experience
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
- Degree qualified in Engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, process).
- Extensive experience and understanding of EU and national energy policy.
- Strong technical understanding and knowledge of the Irish power system.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders from across the energy sector.
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on high quality report writing and ability to communicate effectively with customers and business stakeholders.
- Lead engagement and coordination with partners and customers including meetings, reporting, relationship management, and general communication.
- Prepare and present project approval papers for the Executive and Project Boards.
- Facilitate project reviews and audits by internal and external parties as required.
- Experience managing teams, excellent organisational skills and strong track record of delivery.
Role 4: Energy and Assets - Senior Consultant, Manager & Senior Manager (Permanent)
Senior Consultant – 3-5 years relevant experience
Manager – 5-8 years relevant experience
Senior Manager – 10-12 years relevant experience
Senior Consultant key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating intellectual strength and flexibility to understand complex problems and rationalise these into a workable solution
- Background in energy industry in Ireland or abroad, or demonstrate qualifications in energy related discipline
- Providing rigorous analysis from relevant and accurate datasets to drive fact-based decision making
- Supporting the delivery of challenging transformation projects
- Working within a team environment, committed to achieving solutions with the ability to work under pressure
- Bringing a strong interest and commitment to developing and delivering leading edge solutions in energy and sustainability for clients
- Contributing to impactful thought leadership for use in business development, engagement delivery, as well as marketing to build EY’s profile
- Demonstrating strong presentation and facilitation skills with an ability to succinctly and creatively present robust and evidence-based messages
- Developing and producing high quality output against project objectives and meet tight deadlines
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
At least 3-5 years’ experience with a consulting firm or in energy industry- You will demonstrate consulting experience in public and private sector environments e.g. central government, consumer goods, technology, financial services, pharma/life sciences, energy etc;
- Strong academic record including a third level degree
- A proven track record in delivering a suite of strategic planning and business transformation consulting services;
- Experience in consulting with emphasis on the delivery of business transformation offerings e.g. transformation programme design, cost reduction, strategic planning
- Experience of client/ customer facing roles with evidence of stakeholder engagement/ communication success;
- Involvement in sales and/or business development;
- Strong academic record including a third level degree.
- Qualifications in energy or sustainability areas desirable.
Manager & Senior Manager key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate strong commercial experience in energy industry in Ireland or abroad.
- Continue to develop valued relationships by leveraging your own network of clients and EY’s network;
- Be experienced in managing business development processes, from responding to RFPs to preparing for and presenting at pitches;
- Create high-quality work products and act as a subject matter resource on one or more areas of the energy sector, leveraging knowledge and experience to shape services to client problems;
- Create innovative commercial insights for clients, adapt methods and practices to fit operational team and cultural needs;
- Demonstrate excellent presentation and facilitation skills with an ability to succinctly and creatively present robust and evidence-based messages for complex projects or elements of highly complex projects, and provide subject matter insight to bids and proposals;
- Be experienced in creating impactful thought leadership for use in business development, engagement delivery, as well as marketing to build EY’s profile;
- Drive improvements in business processes, you will serve as a role model for Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM) and make sure that project teams understand and comply with our Q&RM guidelines.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
- At least 5-12 years experience within the energy sector in Ireland or abroad either in the industry or with a blue-chip consulting firm (strong track record in consulting is highly desirable);
- You will be experienced in delivering in complex projects in the energy market in Ireland or abroad;
- A proven track record in delivering a suite of strategic and business transformation in the energy sector;
- Senior stakeholder (e.g. Board, C-Suite) communication experience;
- Strong academic record including a third level degree.
- A proven track record in delivering a suite of strategic planning and business transformation consulting services;
- Senior stakeholder management (e.g. Board, C-Suite) and communication experience;
- Proven track record in business development;
- Strong academic record including a third level degree.
Engagement responsibilities include:
- Working comfortably at senior client levels, building 'trusted advisor' relationships;
- Delivering engagements to time, cost and quality within appropriate governance frameworks;
- Solving business and strategic issues through collaboration and teaming;
- Applying knowledge and experience to shape services to clients and present project outputs via concise, high quality work products;
- Participating in business development initiatives;
- Building strong internal relationships within Consulting and across other service lines.
People responsibilities include:
- Role-modelling the EY values and being an advocate for people engagement in EY;
- Developing people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff;
- Conducting performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff;
- Contributing to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training professionals;
- Maintaining an educational program to continually develop personal skills;
- Understanding and following workplace policies and procedures.
